I have had lots of request for ideas and inspiration for boys’ bedding from mamas searching for that ever-elusive combination of ‘boy-ish’, but still stylish. It’s definitely a tricky one, but there are some great options out there that will hopefully keep everyone happy.
I always love a stripe (for boys, girls, adults – everyone…), particularly a blue and white ticking stripe, or a seersucker stripe, so this is always a good place to start. As many of you know, I LOVE to mix and match bedlinen (more labour-intensive, yes) on all the beds in our house, and Marlow’s is no exception. I mix stripes, stars, checks, ginghams, block prints and plain colours (greys, navy, ochre… I sometimes even mix in a dusty pink pillow case into the mix on Marlow’s bed – he likes pink). I love this organic cotton animal print duvet set (and might get it for Marlow’s bed actually – it will look great mixed with other plainer linens). I also love to layer quilts/eiderdowns, bedspreads (love this!) and blankets during the Winter months too. Trust me, this does not make for a speedy bed-making in the mornings though! But it does look lovely.
M&S have got some fab options for boys I think. Check out the striped seersucker, striped jersey, Winter woodland print, and the constellation print. I also love this elephant block printed set, which I saw in store a while ago. It’s really sweet.
The Little White Company is also a good option for ‘boyish, but not too’ boyish’ prints. I like this glow in the dark star print, this classic star print, and if he’s insisting on dinosaurs, this set is a totally acceptable option (and would look lovely if you mix in some seersucker stripes (pillowcases/sheets).
Anyway, I have found my favourite boys’ bedding that I think (hope!) might appeal to both mama and son. I’ve also done a ‘mini edit’ of some nice ‘boy-friendly’ furniture.
Let me know how you get on…
pps: Marlow also has this cosy sheepskin on his bed.
