Little Spree: boys bedroom inspiration

About 18 months ago I finally faced up to the fact that Bailey was too big for his lovely Leander toddler bed (if you’ve not come across them they’re amazing – it’s a cot that grows with your little one so can be used from birth to around 5 years). It wasn’t just the bed that he’d outgrown, his room was generally still set up as a nursery, yet here he was, a little boy already. We won’t dwell on the sniffles that ensued as I moved the changing table out, but rather his beaming face as we moved in his desk, robot lamp and his bunk bed. I had no idea how much it would change his attitude toward his room. Suddenly we couldn’t get him out of there (which also meant he played with his toys in his room rather than the usual snail trail around the whole house. Result). The one piece of furniture that I kept from the nursery was his ‘woolly rocker’ – it’s the Eames chair in white, but I’ve since seen various other versions that look identical at a fraction of the price. It has such sweet memories of rocking him to sleep as a baby, but now I love to sneak a peek at him as he rocks himself whilst reading a book. I must mention the Folio Society books you can see on his self: they’re beautifully bound and printed (they make great gifts, as some of these have been) and my hope is that they will be passed on from generation to generation. Oh no, here come the sniffles again…
