So Sarah Jessica Parker’s second collaboration with Gap Kids has finally landed in stores and online, and sweetly, it’s inspired by treasured pieces from her own childhood. And it’s equally cool and cute. I actually think the boys’ collection (just) has the edge over the girls, which is always a pleasant surprise, as it’s so rarely the case with kids’ clothing.
Marlow is obsessed with his reversible hoodie, and (honestly) has wanted to wear it every day since I gave it to him. He loves that it’s light and comfortable to wear, but also super-cosy. I like that it’s a hoodie/jacket hybrid, and that when wore as a hoodie looks like a varsity jacket. And trust me, he is one tough crowd!
I love the clever, vintage, home-spun feel of the collection, which as a self-confessed SJP ‘super-fan’ I know only too well rings very true of her own childhood (as one of eight no less!) experiences. What I particularly love though, is how she’s managed to combine pretty and practical for the girls, and cool and comfortable for the boys. These are clothes that kids love to wear, and parents love to look at. Win, win. My favourites are all above.
Tabitha has this fan ray pleated trapeze dress with the most whimsical of woodland prints all over. The combination of the fluorescent print (I got Tabitha’s in store – the one online doesn’t like as bright…) with the pleats and the print really works. Tabitha loves hers! She also has this bunny fairisle cardigan – a cute and cosy Autumn alternative to a coat. The plaid dress also comes in an almost identical style for older girls (Tabitha has this, and it’s so lovely – it looks like you could have found it at a (good) car boot sale, or an antiques fair, which actually in my book is the biggest of compliments…
