The Trench Is Having A Bit Of A Moment

I’ve always loved a trench. I’ve always wanted a classic Burberry (surely the Holy Grail of all trenches?), but never quite been able to (financially) take the leap. You might not be feeling a trench just yet – it’s still petty cold in London anyway (although today I ventured out in a shacket, worn as a shirt with just a cotton coat over, and I was absolutely fine), but with that tricky period between the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring, a the trench will be your best friend. Plus they are definitely having a bit of a ‘moment’ right now. I love the way that you can wear a trench in so many different ways (as illustrated above in my little moodboard of looks that I love) – more feminine and girly with dresses, pleated skirts, skinny heels; or more slouchy tomboy with jeans (skinny, cropped, wide leg and even flares), scruffy shirts, sweatshirts, jumpers, wedges, trainers (more my kind of vibe). I do generally prefer the classic colours though – stone, camel, then also khaki and navy for a more modern spin (also well worth considering a fuller sleeve, a longer length trench or a fuller ‘skirt’ – all key details to keep your trench game strong this season). And although not strictly a trench (in my book anyway) this one from ASOS is pretty great too.

ps: many of you have been asking me about my (not one, but two – eeek) leopard print coats that I posted on Instagram recently. Mine (Mango and M&S) are both out of stock now, but when I was on the hunt for trench coats earlier today, I found this one (all sizes available amazingly, and it’s a good one I promise!) in the sale section of Mango. Result! It looks almost identical to my Mango one which I bought a couple of years ago. Go go go!!
